How to see a document in 3D

Drag a document up to the notch and drop it on Visualize. Koi reads it and builds what it describes as a 3D model you can turn, with the document's own steps under it.

By Irakli, founder ·

How to do it

  1. Find the document in Finder: a PDF manual, a datasheet, a picture of a diagram.
  2. Drag it up to the notch. Three spots open: Files Tray, Visualize and AirDrop.
  3. Drop it on Visualize, in the middle. The notch says Reading… while Koi reads it, then Building… as the model appears part by part in its own window.
  4. Turn it, zoom it, and click a step in the captions to fly to the parts it's about.
  5. Save it with the download button at the right end of its title bar: a PNG, or a .koi file that opens again in Koi with a double-click.

Worth knowing

  • No call and no voice needed.
  • Koi reads about thirty pages and looks at pictures of the first six. A longer document is read from its start.
  • Drop several files and Koi builds the first one it can read.
  • It counts against your plan's Koi. The document's words, pictures of its first six pages and its file name go to Koi's AI once, to build it. Nothing of it is kept.
