Tell Koi when. It does it then.

Koi's Routines tab runs an AI task by itself at the time you pick, once, every day, on weekdays or on chosen days. It searches the web for real, and the notch tells you when the result is ready.

Tell Koi what to do, and when

The notch has a Routines tab, the clock beside Koi, Tools and Tray. Write a task in your own words, pick a time, and Koi's AI does it by itself on your Mac. When it's done, the notch tells you.

  1. Hover the notch and open Routines.
  2. Click New task, or Ideas to start from one.
  3. Say what Koi should do, like “find the 5 biggest stories in my country and give me two lines on each”.
  4. Pick how often: Once, Every day, Weekdays, or Weekly on the days you pick.
  5. Click the time and type it, or press ↑ and ↓ to move it a quarter hour. Click Save task.

Koi gives the task a short title. At its time, the notch says “Your task is ready”, with Read aloud, Open and Dismiss.

Real answers, not made up

  • Anything about the world now, like the news or a price, comes from a real web search, with its sources named. If nothing turns up, it says so.
  • Name a web page in the task and Koi reads it straight from your Mac each time, so “what's new” is what's really new since the last run.
  • It reads your calendar or this week's documents only when the task needs them.
  • The paperclip attaches a file to use every time, like a list of sites to check.
  • During a call, a dictation or a recording, the result waits and comes once you're done.

It runs on your Mac

Tasks run on your Mac's clock while it's awake and online. If it was asleep or off at a task's time, the task runs once when it can, never once for every time it missed. Each run uses your plan's Koi like any question.

You can also ask out loud or in the chat box: “every Monday at 9, summarise my week”, “pause my morning news”, “what tasks do I have?”. Deleting one waits for your click.

What leaves your Mac

Your tasks and their last 20 results are kept on your Mac. When a task runs, its words, its files, the pages it reads and, only when it needs them, your calendar or recent documents go through our server to the AI provider. Our server keeps none of it. Details are on the privacy page.

Koi and other scheduled tasks

Zapier and Lindy run in the cloud with your computer off, and act in hundreds of apps. Keyboard Maestro and Apple's Shortcuts run on the Mac on a timer, but without a web search built in. Koi is the one where you write the task in plain words and read the answer in the notch. See Zapier, Lindy and Keyboard Maestro alternatives.

Part of Koi

Koi is $20 a month or $7 for a first week, or Lifetime, paid once. See the plans, or how to schedule tasks step by step.
