How to schedule tasks

The notch's Routines tab: tell Koi what to do and when, once, every day, on weekdays or on the days you pick, and it does it for you. The notch says when the result is ready.

By Irakli, founder ·

How to do it

  1. Hover the notch and open the Routines tab, the clock beside Koi, Tools and Tray.
  2. Click New task, or Ideas and + Add beside one to start from it.
  3. Say what Koi should do in the box, in your own words. Use the paperclip for a file it should use each time, like a list of sites to check.
  4. Pick how often: Once (with a date), Every day, Weekdays, or Weekly with its days.
  5. Click the time on the right and type it, or press ↑ and ↓ to move it a quarter hour. For Once, the date beside it works the same way.
  6. Click Save task. Koi gives it a short title, and the notch says when each result is ready: Read aloud, Open, or Dismiss.

Worth knowing

  • Ideas to start from: the top news in your country, your day from your calendar, 5 new words in any language, prices you follow, what's new on a website, your week wrapped up from your notes and calls, weekend ideas near you, or a check just once, later.
  • Or ask Koi on a call or in the chat box: "every Monday at 9, summarise my week", "on Saturday at 10, check if the concert tickets are on sale", "pause my morning news", "what tasks do I have?". Deleting one waits for your click.
  • Your tasks list each one with its last result or next time, and a switch to pause it. Click one for Run now, Edit, Delete and its last 20 results.
  • It runs while your Mac is awake and online. If your Mac was asleep, off or offline at its time, it runs once when it can, never once for every time it missed. A Once task runs one time and is then done.
  • Anything about the world now, like today's news or prices, comes from a real web search, with its sources named. A page you name in the task is also read straight from your Mac. If nothing turns up, it says so.
  • During a call, a dictation or a recording, the notch waits and tells you once it's over.
  • Each run uses your plan's Koi like any question, and so does writing its title. When it's used up, a task doesn't run and says why.
  • Tasks and their results are kept on your Mac. When you save one, its words go to Koi's AI for its title; each time it runs, its words, files and what it reads go to Koi's AI through our server, which keeps none of it.
