Expense tracker

Know where the month goes

Add rent, bills, subscriptions and what you earn, and Koi shows what you spend a month, what comes in and what's left, biggest payments first. It's kept on your Mac, and it never asks for your bank.

What you pay each month, and what's left

Koi's expense tracker is a list of what you pay again and again: rent, bills, a loan, Netflix, ChatGPT. Add what you earn too, and it shows what you spend a month, what comes in, and what's left. It opens from the dock's Tools button, or its card in Koi's window.

What it isn't, up front: it doesn't read your bank, the App Store or your email to find what you pay. You add each one yourself, in a few seconds, and it stays on your Mac.

Add an expense in a few seconds

  1. Click Tools on the dock and pick Expense tracker.
  2. Click Add, pick Expense or Income, and start typing. The list filters as you type: services show with their app icons, everyday bills like rent, utilities, internet, phone, a loan, insurance, a car or a gym with icons of their own. Anything not on the list, type its name and add it.
  3. Enter the amount, then Weekly, Monthly, Yearly or Once.
  4. If you like, pick the day it's paid on. Koi counts the next payment from it and shows it on the row.

Click a row to change or delete it. The biggest payments are always at the top, so what matters most is what you see first.

Salary, clients and one-off payments

Pick Income instead of Expense for a salary, your business, client work, a paid promotion or a one-time payment. Each has its own rows above your expenses, and the total shows what you earned against what you spent, and what's left. A one-time payment counts in the month it came.

How the monthly total is worked out

  • A monthly payment counts as it is.
  • A yearly one counts as a twelfth of it each month.
  • A weekly one counts as 52 a year, spread over twelve months.
  • A one-time payment counts only in its own month.

One currency for everything: US dollars to begin with, or any other from a list you can search. Nothing is converted, so pick the one you pay in.

Add things by asking

Tap Fn + ⌘ and say “add Netflix to my tracker”, from any app. Koi adds it for you. More on talking to Koi.

Kept on your Mac

Your expenses and income are kept in Koi's own database on your Mac and sent nowhere. Settings, General, Clear history deletes them along with everything else. The app icons come with Koi, so nothing is fetched to show them.

What it costs

The tracker is part of Koi, on every plan. Pro is $20 a month, or $192 a year, after a 3-day free trial that needs a card. Lifetime is paid once, from $59. See the plans, or read how to use the tracker step by step.
