How to give Koi the permissions it needs

Koi asks for each permission the first time it needs it. When one is missing, the dock's More button has a dot and its menu says which.

By Irakli, founder ·

How to do it

  1. Microphone, for dictation, calls and recording: macOS asks the first time.
  2. Accessibility, to type into other apps and click for you: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility, switch Koi on.
  3. Screen Recording, to see your screen and record the other side of a call: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on macOS 14). macOS wants Koi quit and reopened once it's on.
  4. Calendars and Reminders, only if you connect them: macOS asks from Settings, Connections.

Worth knowing

  • On a call, "allow Koi to see my screen" opens the right page for you.
  • Settings, Permissions shows what's allowed.
