We make Koi, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about another app comes from its own site or Apple's help, checked October 26, 2026.
The picks
Best for: Free, open source, keyboard first
Open it with ⇧⌘C or from the menu bar, type to filter, pin with ⌥P. It keeps everything on your Mac and skips concealed, transient and password manager types. Free and open source (MIT); the Mac App Store build is $9.99 to support it. macOS 14 or later. More in our Maccy alternatives.
Best for: Syncing with iPhone and iPad
Unlimited history of links, pictures, files, colors and code, pinboards you can share, and private iCloud sync across Mac, iPhone and iPad. On the App Store it's $3.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $99.99 for life, with a week to try it, and it's in Setapp. macOS 14 or later. More in our Paste alternatives.
Best for: Filters, stacks and rules
⇧⌘V opens Quick Paste anywhere. Filters change text as you paste, Stacks paste items in order, and iCloud syncs your Macs. $39 with a year of updates, or $24.99 a year on the App Store, with a 14-day trial. Pastebot 3 needs macOS 26. More in our Pastebot alternatives.
Best for: Raycast users
Free in Raycast: text, pictures, files, links and colors, encrypted on your Mac, kept up to 3 months, or longer on Pro ($10 a month). It skips password managers by default.
Best for: Six months, in the notch, beside the rest of Koi
Copy history keeps words, links, pictures and the paths of files you copy for 6 months, only on your Mac, never passwords or what apps mark private. Search it, pin it, copy it again, from the notch's Tools. It's one part of Koi: $20 a month or Lifetime, paid once, with dictation, call recording and an assistant.
Where others are better: Koi has no shortcut of its own for it, no sync to other devices, and no text filters or stacks.
Best for: A simple menu bar list
CopyClip is free; CopyClip 2 is $7.99, opens with Control-Space, keeps up to 9,999 text clippings and skips passwords. macOS 12 or later. More in our CopyClip alternatives.
Best for: Free, nothing to install
On macOS Tahoe, press ⌘Space, then ⌘4. Apple's help for macOS 27 keeps it 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days. Apple warns that sensitive information may appear there. Steps in how to find something you copied earlier.
