What Maccy does, and what it costs

Maccy does one job: keep your copy history at hand. Open it with ⇧⌘C or from the menu bar, type to filter, press Return to paste, and pin an item with ⌥P. Everything is stored on your Mac, and it skips concealed, transient and auto-generated types, plus 1Password's.

It's free and open source (MIT), from its site or Homebrew; the Mac App Store build is $9.99 and pays for its work. It needs macOS 14 or later. Its site warns that maccyapp.net and maccyapp.com are fakes that spread malware.

We make Koi, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about another app comes from its own site or App Store page, checked October 26, 2026.

The best Maccy alternatives for Mac in 2026

1. Koi

Best for: Six months of what you copy, in the notch, on your Mac only

Koi's Copy history keeps words, links, pictures and the paths of files you copy in Finder for 6 months, only on your Mac. It never keeps passwords or what apps mark as private, and it's never sent or read by Koi's AI. Open it from the notch's Tools: search it, pin what matters, copy it again.

Where Maccy is better, plainly: it's free, it opens with a shortcut from anywhere, and it's built for the keyboard. Koi has no shortcut of its own for Copy history. Koi is $20 a month or Lifetime, paid once, with dictation, call recording and an assistant in the same app.

2. Spotlight, built in

Best for: Free, nothing to install, for the last hours or days

On macOS Tahoe, press ⌘Space, then ⌘4, for Spotlight's clipboard history. Apple's help for macOS 27 keeps it 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days. Seehow to find something you copied earlier.

3. Paste

Best for: Your history on iPhone and iPad

Unlimited history, shared pinboards and private iCloud sync across Mac, iPhone and iPad. App Store: $3.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $99.99 for life. More in our Paste alternatives.

4. Raycast Clipboard History

Best for: Raycast users

Free in Raycast, encrypted on your Mac, kept up to 3 months, or longer on Pro.
