What CopyClip does, and what it costs

CopyClip, by FIPLAB, lives in the menu bar. CopyClip 2 opens with Control-Space, pastes the first ten with ⌘1 to ⌘0, keeps up to 9,999 text clippings, searches as you type, pins with ⇧⌘P, and skips passwords and apps you exclude, with a Private Mode to pause it. Beware a lookalike on the App Store from another developer.

The original CopyClip is free; CopyClip 2 is $7.99 on the Mac App Store. Both need macOS 12 or later.

We make Koi, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about another app comes from its own site or App Store page, checked October 26, 2026.

1. Koi

Best for: Six months of what you copy, in the notch, on your Mac only

Koi's Copy history keeps words, links, pictures and the paths of files you copy in Finder for 6 months, only on your Mac. It never keeps passwords or what apps mark as private, and it's never sent or read by Koi's AI. Open it from the notch's Tools: search it, pin what matters, copy it again.

Where CopyClip is better, plainly: it's free or $7.99 once, opens with a shortcut, and runs on macOS 12. Koi's Copy history keeps pictures and files too, but opens from the notch. Koi is $20 a month or Lifetime, paid once, with dictation, call recording and an assistant in the same app.

2. Spotlight, built in

Best for: Free, nothing to install, for the last hours or days

On macOS Tahoe, press ⌘Space, then ⌘4, for Spotlight's clipboard history. Apple's help for macOS 27 keeps it 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days. Seehow to find something you copied earlier.

3. Maccy

Best for: Free and open source

Keyboard first, local only. Free; App Store $9.99. More in our Maccy alternatives.

4. Paste

Best for: Sync with iPhone and iPad
