The best Bluedot alternatives for bot-free recording

Bluedot records without a bot, but Free stops at 5 meetings and video starts on Pro. The best Bluedot alternatives: Koi to record calls with video on your Mac, tl;dv or Fathom for a bigger free plan, Jamie for data kept in Europe, and MeetGeek for CRM-heavy teams.

What is the best Bluedot alternative?

For bot-free recording on a Mac with video and no per-meeting limits, Koi records the call on your Mac and keeps the transcript and the audio or video there. For a free cloud notetaker, tl;dv and Fathom give far more than Bluedot's 5 free meetings. Jamie keeps the no-bot approach with data in the EU, and MeetGeek and Tactiq suit teams that live in a CRM.

We make Koi, so read this with that in mind. Koi is Mac only, writes You and Them rather than speaker names, and has no CRM, ATS or team features. Every fact about another app comes from its own site, checked October 21, 2026. We didn't run tests.

How Bluedot works

Bluedot records meetings without a bot: its homepage says it never invites a bot to your meeting or asks for calendar access. You record with a Chrome extension for Google Meet and calls in the browser, with its Mac and Windows apps, or with its iPhone, Android and Apple Watch apps for meetings in person. It transcribes and summarizes in 100+ languages, and takes uploaded audio and video files too.

Recordings go to Bluedot's cloud. Its security page says data is stored on AWS, encrypted in transit and at rest, with EU data residency supported, and is never used to train AI models. It lists a SOC 2 Type II report. Business plans can set custom retention.

Bluedot also auto-updates CRMs: its homepage shows HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Copper and Zoho, and the pricing page puts CRM and ATS integrations on Business.

Why people look for a Bluedot alternative

Mostly the plans. On Bluedot's pricing page:

  • Free is 5 meetings for the life of the account, not per month.
  • Basic, $14 a user a month billed yearly or $18 monthly, is audio only and stops each recording at 1 hour.
  • Video and recordings of any length start on Pro, $20 a user a month billed yearly or $25 monthly.
  • CRM and ATS integrations, SSO and custom retention are on Business, $32 billed yearly or $39 monthly.
  • If you cancel, you lose access to recordings, and they're deleted a month later unless you subscribe again.

The other reason is where the call goes. Bot-free means nobody sees Bluedot in the participant list, but the recording still leaves your computer and lives on Bluedot's servers.

6 Bluedot alternatives for Mac

1. Koi

Best for: Bot-free recording with video, saved on your Mac

Tap Fn + ⌃ on a call in Zoom, Meet, Teams or the browser, pick Online call, then Audio only or Audio and video. Koi hears your microphone as You and what the Mac plays as Them, and writes each stretch down on your Mac as it pauses. Audio and video films the screen with both sides' sound. No bot joins, no extension is needed, and the recording and transcript are saved on your Mac, not uploaded.

Pick In person for a meeting or a class in the room, and Koi keeps the sound to play back. When a recording ends, say yes to “Summarize this call?” for a title, a short summary, your own to-dos and a follow-up email. Only the transcript's words go to Koi's AI for that.

Every plan records without a limit, video included, and nothing sits on a server waiting to expire: the files are on your Mac. Pro is $20 a month or $192 a year after a 3-day trial with a card; Lifetime is paid once: $59 for the first 25 buyers, rising to $199. Weakness: Mac only (macOS 14 or later), no speaker names, no CRM, and no phone app.

2. tl;dv

Best for: A free plan with unlimited recordings

tl;dv records Meet, Zoom and Teams with a bot, or bot-free from its Mac and Windows app. Free has unlimited recordings and transcriptions in 30+ languages, with full AI notes on 10 meetings and recordings kept for 3 months. Data is hosted in the EU. Pro is €29 a seat a month, or €18 billed yearly.

Weakness: the bot-free recording is audio only.

3. Fathom

Best for: The biggest free plan

Fathom's Free plan lists unlimited recordings and transcriptions with instant AI summaries, clips and search. You choose its bot or bot-free capture, in beta on Mac. Premium is $20 a month, or $16 yearly, and CRM field sync is on Business, $34 a month or $25 yearly.

Weakness: bot-free capture is still a beta.

4. Jamie

Best for: No bot, data kept in Europe

Jamie captures your device's audio with no bot, online or in person, on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, in 99+ languages. It streams audio for transcription, never stores it, and keeps data in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Free is 10 AI notes a month; Plus is €21 a month and Pro €39, billed yearly, with CRMs on Pro.

Weakness: no recording to replay.

5. MeetGeek

Best for: Bot or no bot, with CRM fields filled in

MeetGeek's agent joins as a bot, or its Mac and Windows app records with none. It has 100+ languages, EU or US hosting, and native HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM and Attio. Free gives 3 hours a month; Pro is $15.99 a month, or $9.99 yearly, for 20 hours.

Weakness: HD video only on Business, $27 a month or $17 yearly.

6. Tactiq

Best for: Live transcripts in the browser, no audio kept

Tactiq is a Chrome extension that transcribes Meet, Zoom and Teams live with no bot, in 60+ languages, and doesn't record or store the audio. Free gives 10 transcripts a month; Pro is $8 a user a month, billed yearly.

Weakness: a transcript only, no recording or video.

How to record a call without a bot, step by step

With Bluedot's Chrome extension, for Google Meet:

  1. Add the Bluedot extension to Chrome and sign in.
  2. Join the call in Chrome and start recording from the extension.
  3. When it ends, Bluedot uploads the recording, transcribes it and writes the notes in its cloud.

With Koi, for any call app on your Mac:

  1. Tap Fn + ⌃, or click Record on Koi's dock.
  2. Pick Online call, then Audio only or Audio and video.
  3. The first time, allow Screen Recording for Koi in System Settings and reopen Koi, so it can hear the other side.
  4. Stop from the dock, or tap Fn + ⌃ again. The call's page opens in Recents with the recording and You and Them in turns.
  5. Say yes to Summarize this call? if you want notes, to-dos and a follow-up email.

When Bluedot is still the better pick

Stay on Bluedot if

  • You record on Windows, iPhone, Android or an Apple Watch as well as a Mac. Koi is Mac only.
  • Your notes should update HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or an ATS for hiring. Koi has no CRM or ATS integrations.
  • Your team shares recordings, with admin controls, SSO and retention rules. Koi keeps each call on one Mac.
  • You want every speaker named, not You and Them.
  • You want recordings in the cloud, so any device can open them.

Koi is the better pick when you're one person on a Mac who wants every call recorded, with video, without counting meetings or paying a per-seat price for it. Your recordings are files you own, and the call's page is a document you can edit or export to Word or PDF. Koi also offers to record when a call starts, briefs you before meetings, and can put the dates a call agreed on into its calendar.

What happens to your recordings if you stop paying?

With a cloud recorder, your library lives on the company's servers, so cancelling matters. Bluedot's pricing page says you lose access to recordings when you cancel, and they're permanently deleted a month later unless you restore your subscription. tl;dv deletes Free recordings after 3 months.

A local recorder works the other way round. Koi saves the audio or video and the transcript on your Mac, not on a server, so there's no cloud library to be deleted. Koi itself needs a plan to work, so export the pages you want to keep to Word or PDF while you have one. For more apps that work this way, see the best call recorders for Mac.

Which Bluedot alternative should you pick?

  • Bot-free with video, kept on your Mac, no meeting limits? Koi.
  • A free plan with unlimited recordings? tl;dv or Fathom.
  • No bot and data kept in Europe? Jamie.
  • CRM fields filled in for a sales team? MeetGeek.
  • Just a live transcript in Chrome? Tactiq.

Bot-free recorders don't tell the call they're recording, so ask first. Our guide to recording Google Meet on a Mac walks through it, and Koi's plans show what each includes.
