How to see window previews in the Dock

Rest the pointer on an app in the macOS Dock and Koi shows its open windows above the icon, minimized ones too. Click one to bring it forward.

By Irakli, founder ·

How to do it

  1. Open Koi's Settings and go to Notch & tools.
  2. Turn on Window previews in the Dock. If Koi still needs Accessibility or Screen Recording, turning it on asks for it.
  3. Rest the pointer on a running app's icon in the Dock for a moment. Its windows on this desktop show above it, or beside it with the Dock on the left or right.
  4. Click a window to bring it to the front, or click a minimized one to restore it. Hover a window and click × to close it.

Worth knowing

  • It needs System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on macOS 27) and System Settings, Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on macOS 14). It's on once both are allowed.
  • The pictures are taken on your Mac when you hover, held for a few seconds and never kept or sent.
  • Nothing is pictured while a password is typed, from password managers, or from windows that ask not to be captured.
  • Move the pointer away and the previews go.
