The best Fantastical alternatives for Mac

Stay on Fantastical if you want one calendar on every Apple device with booking links. For free, use Apple Calendar or Notion Calendar; to pay once, BusyCal. Koi suits a Mac user with several Google accounts who'd rather add things by voice.

Fantastical is good. So why leave?

Fantastical runs on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro and Windows, and works with Google, Microsoft 365, Exchange, iCloud, Todoist and CalDAV. You type events in plain language, forward an email and its AI makes the event, share free times with Openings, offer several times with Proposals, and switch between Calendar Sets. Flexibits says Android is coming in 2027.

There's a free version, but its pricing page holds a lot back for Premium: more than one Calendar Set, more than one invitee per event, weather past 3 days, travel time, Apple Watch, and the scheduling tools. Premium comes for one person, a family of up to five, or a team, with a 14-day trial. The site shows prices only at checkout; the Mac App Store lists Premium as in-app purchases of $6.99 and $56.99, and Premium for Families at $10.49 and $89.99. The Mac app needs macOS 12.4 or later.

We make Koi, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about another app comes from its own site, docs or App Store page, checked October 21, 2026. We didn't run tests.

Why people look for a Fantastical alternative

  • It's another subscription, for a calendar.
  • The free version leaves out things they use every week, like more than one invitee.
  • They want to pay once instead.
  • They only use a Mac, so apps on five platforms are worth less to them.
  • They want to add and move things by talking, not typing.

When Fantastical is still the better pick

Stay on Fantastical if

  • You want the same calendar on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Koi is Mac only.
  • You send booking links or offer people a few times to pick. Koi has no scheduling links.
  • You use Exchange or Microsoft 365. Koi shows Outlook only through the Mac's Calendar app.
  • You live by Calendar Sets and widgets.
  • You want reminders in Notification Center and on your phone. Koi's own reminders show in its dock.
  • You want a calendar on its own. Koi's calendar comes inside a bigger app.

6 Fantastical alternatives for Mac

1. Koi

Best for: Many Google accounts, Apple Calendar and Reminders, and adding things by voice

Koi is a Mac app for dictation, recording calls and talking to an AI, and it has its own calendar, one click from its dock: the week or the month, Events in blue, Tasks in gold and Appointments in pink. Connect Google Calendar from as many accounts as you have, each with its own sign-in, and Apple Calendar and Reminders too. A meeting you're invited to on two accounts shows once, and reminders with a date show as tasks you tick off.

Where Fantastical has you type “Lunch with Sarah at 1pm tomorrow”, Koi has you say it. Tap Fn + ⌘ and say “put the investor call in my calendar for Friday at 3pm New York time”, and it's added. Koi can move things and tick them off too. That's a call with Koi's AI, so it goes online. Add guests in the editor and the event goes on Google with a Google Meet link, and Google emails the invitations.

Where it loses: Mac only, no booking links, Outlook only through the Mac's Calendar app, and its own reminders show in the dock, not Notification Center. It isn't sold on its own: it comes with Koi, at $20 a month or $192 a year after a 3-day trial, or Lifetime from $59 once.

2. Apple Calendar

Best for: Free, built in, synced to your iPhone

The Mac's own Calendar is free and already there. Choose Calendar, Add Account, and add iCloud, Google or any CalDAV account, and the same accounts on your iPhone keep everything in step. It has no natural-language typing and no scheduling tools. Google says email notifications for events, creating new Google calendars and Room Scheduler don't work there (Google's help).

3. Notion Calendar

Best for: A free, modern calendar with scheduling links

Notion Calendar is free on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, and connects Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars, several at once. It shares your free times with a scheduling link, shows your day across time zones, and joins meetings from the menu bar. Notion says the iPad version isn't optimized yet. 4. BusyCal

Best for: Paying once for a power-user Mac calendar

BusyCal is $49.99 from BusyMac's store, a license that never expires with 18 months of updates, or comes with Setapp. It has a menu bar calendar, natural-language entry in eight languages, an 8-day forecast, travel time and to-dos that sync with Reminders. Mac and iPhone. See our BusyCal alternatives.

5. Morgen

Best for: Calendars and tasks planned together, on any computer

Morgen connects Google, Outlook, iCloud, CalDAV and Fastmail, pulls in tasks from Notion, Todoist, Linear and more, and has an AI Planner and booking links. Windows, Mac, Linux, phones and the browser. It's $30 a month, or $15 a month billed yearly, after a 14-day trial with no card; there's no free plan.

6. Vimcal

Best for: A fast calendar with shortcuts for everything

Vimcal syncs Google Calendar and Outlook, with a Mac and PC desktop app, a Mac menu bar app and a web version. Free covers only its iOS app; iOS and Desktop is $35 a month, or $25 a month billed yearly ($300). iCloud isn't mentioned.

How to put your calendars in Koi

  1. Open Koi's Settings and choose Connections, or click the card at the foot of the calendar's day.
  2. Connect Google Calendar and sign in. Choose Add another account for each other Google account.
  3. Connect Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders, and allow each when macOS asks.
  4. Click Calendar on Koi's dock. Every calendar shows beside Koi's own, each with its own switch.

Changes you make in Koi's editor go straight to Google, or through macOS for Apple's, and sync as they always do. Google Calendar goes only between your Mac and Google, never through our server, and each sign-in is kept in your Mac's Keychain. More on Koi's calendar.

Fantastical vs Koi

  • Adding things: Fantastical parses what you type. Koi adds what you say on a call, and you can click or drag on the grid.
  • Accounts: Fantastical connects Exchange and Microsoft 365 directly. Koi connects many Google accounts plus Apple Calendar and Reminders, and gets Outlook only through the Mac's Calendar.
  • Scheduling: Fantastical has Openings, Proposals and RSVPs. Koi invites guests through Google with a Meet link, and has no booking links.
  • Reminders: Fantastical alerts on every device. Koi's reminders show in its dock with Open and Snooze, for Google events too when Google would remind you on screen. Apple Calendar keeps its own alerts.
  • Devices: Fantastical is on every Apple device and Windows. Koi is one Mac.
  • Price: Fantastical has a free version and Premium. Koi has no free plan, and its calendar comes with dictation, call recording and an AI assistant.

What Koi adds that a calendar app doesn't

A few minutes before a meeting your documents say something about, Koi's dock offers Brief me: a short page on where things stood, what to remember and what to ask, from your own notes. When a recorded call ends and you say yes to notes, Koi offers the dates it agreed on, each ticked, to add or leave out. Tap Fn + ⌃ to record a call with no bot, or Fn + ⌥ for dictation in any app.

Brief me sends the meeting's title, its people and the lines of your own pages about it to Koi's AI; it's a switch in Settings, under Koi. If you only want a calendar, this is a lot you won't use, and a free app is the better deal.
