Cluely review
Cluely calls itself meeting AI that helps during the call, not after. It listens while you talk on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Webex or Slack, and when you press Cmd and Enter it offers a suggested answer, a follow-up question or a recap of what was just said. It also takes meeting notes you can share, and transcribes in more than 12 languages. No bot joins the call: Cluely runs on your own computer. Its site offers a Mac download, a Windows download and an iPhone app.
The part Cluely is best known for is its pitch that it's “completely undetectable”. Its home page says it's invisible to screen share and never shows up in shared screens, recordings or meeting tools. On the pricing page, though, that is its own plan: Pro + Undetectability, at $149.99 a month, described as “completely hidden to meeting screen sharing software”. Plain Pro is $19.99 a month, and Starter is free with limited AI answers and limited notes.
We make Koi, the first pick below, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about Cluely and the other apps comes from their own sites, checked October 21, 2026, in USD.

The picks
Best for: Calls recorded on your Mac with no bot, plus an AI that shows you things on screen
Koi covers both halves of what people use Cluely for, in its own way. For the call, tap Fn + ⌃ and pick Online call. Koi records it with no bot joining: your microphone is written down as You and the Mac's sound as Them, transcribed on your Mac as the call goes, kept as audio or with the screen's video. When Zoom, Meet, Teams, FaceTime, Webex, Slack or Discord starts using the microphone, Koi offers to record. When it ends, Koi asks whether to summarize it, and only with a yes do the transcript's words go to its AI for a title, summary, your to-dos and a follow-up email.
For help in the moment, tap Fn + ⌘ and ask out loud, or tap Control twice to type instead. Koi looks at your screen with the question, circles the button you need or highlights the sentence it means, and rewrites text you select. On a recorded call, on macOS 26 and later, live captions show what the others say in your language, translated on your Mac. A few minutes before a meeting, it can offer a brief built from your own notes about it.
What it doesn't do: Koi doesn't listen to the call and suggest answers while someone talks. It has no iPhone or Windows app. Pro is $20 a month, or $192 a year, after a 3-day trial that needs a card. Lifetime is paid once: $59 for the first 25 buyers, then the price climbs. Recording and dictation are unlimited on every plan. It runs on macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.
Best for: Bot-free meeting notes on every device, free to start
Granola is a notepad for meetings. You jot during the call and it fills your notes in from the transcript afterwards, with no bot in the call. It runs on desktop, iPhone, Android and Apple Watch. Its pricing page doesn't mention answers during a call: it's for the notes, not the live help.
Basic is free with 30 days of meeting history. Business is $14 per user a month and adds pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails and integrations (Granola pricing). More in Granola AI alternatives.
Best for: The cheapest bot-free notes, transcribed on the Mac
Shadow calls itself an AI meeting assistant for Mac. No bot joins, it transcribes on your Mac, and it takes screenshots of what's shared. Its Action Skills run on your screen, voice or selected text from a shortcut, between calls.
Free is free for good, with unlimited transcription and recording. Plus is $8 a month and adds AI meeting notes and chat, with a two-week trial and no card (Shadow pricing).
Best for: An assistant that watches your whole day, meetings included
Highlight transcribes meetings in real time and, by its privacy page, continuously observes your screen to find moments where it can help, minus the apps, sites and windows you exclude. Meeting notes are stored in its cloud, encrypted, and raw audio is thrown away after transcription.
No free plan: Lite is $35 a month with 20 hours of meetings, Pro $60 and Max $200, with a 14-day trial on Lite and Pro (Highlight pricing). The download is for Apple silicon. See Highlight AI alternatives.
Best for: Bot-free notes plus answers about the window in front of you
Littlebird takes meeting notes without a bot, in more than 30 languages, and its Hover feature on the Mac answers about the window in front of you. With Context Awareness on, it builds a memory from the work you let it capture, and you can pause it or exclude apps and sites.
Basic is free with 25 meeting notes in total. Plus is $17 a month billed yearly, with unlimited notes (Littlebird pricing). It runs on Mac and Windows, with phone apps for chat.
Best for: Asking about your screen out loud, with a free plan
HeyClicky sees your screen when you press its hotkey, answers out loud and draws on the screen to point the way. Its agents do tasks for you. It doesn't take meeting notes.
Free gives 25 talk and 25 agent messages a month; Pro is $20 a month and Max $100 (HeyClicky pricing). Mac only, macOS 14.2 or later, with a Windows waitlist. Our HeyClicky review has more.
How it works
In Cluely, the help comes from the conversation itself:
In Koi, you record the call and ask about what's on your screen:
The difference is the source. Cluely answers from what's being said; Koi answers from what you ask and what's on your screen, and writes the call down so you can ask about it afterwards: “what did Sam say about pricing?” searches your calls and pages on the Mac.

Undetectable
Cluely says so. Its home page claims it's invisible to screen share and “undetectable in every way”, and its undetectability page says it never shows up in shared screens, recordings or meeting tools. Neither page names tools it was tested against, or says anything about proctoring software, and the hiding itself is the $149.99 a month plan. We didn't test it, so we can't tell you how well it holds up.
Here's how Koi compares, as plain facts. Koi isn't sold as undetectable and has no plan for it. Like Cluely, it never joins a call as a bot, and it doesn't announce itself to the people on it, so telling them you're recording is up to you, and the rules differ by country and state. Koi's dock and its captions stay out of any screen you share or record, so your notes and the recording button don't end up in the share. When you call Koi, it answers out loud, through your speakers or headphones.
Privacy
Cluely's privacy policy, last updated June 10, 2025, says your recordings, transcriptions and screenshots are governed by its terms, that data may be processed in any country where it uses service providers, including audio transcription providers, and that it doesn't sell or train on your data. You can email it to turn on end-to-end encryption.
With Koi, a recorded call's audio and video never leave your Mac, and the transcript is written on the Mac too. Only if you say yes to its summary do the transcript's words go to Koi's AI, and the notes are kept nowhere but the document on your Mac. During a call with Koi itself, your voice goes to the AI provider, and a picture of the screen with each question unless you switch that to only when you ask, or never. Our server keeps what each call cost, not what was said or shown. The trust page has the full list.
