What apple-mcp did, and where it stands

apple-mcp is a free, open source (MIT) MCP server that lets Claude use Apple's own apps on your Mac: send and read Messages, create and search Notes, search Contacts, send and search Mail, and create and list Reminders and Calendar events, plus Maps. It runs locally and installs into Claude Desktop, or Cursor through Smithery.

Its GitHub page says it was archived by its owner on January 1, 2026, and is now read-only. Its last release, 1.0.0, was on August 11, 2025. It still works for some people, but nobody is fixing it, which is why people look for a replacement.

We make Koi, so read this with that in mind. Every fact about another app comes from its own site or GitHub page, checked October 26, 2026.

The best apple-mcp alternatives in 2026

1. Koi

Best for: Notes, calls and your calendar for Claude, Cursor and Codex, maintained

Koi runs an MCP server on your Mac. Click Connect in Settings, Connections for Claude, Cursor or Codex, or copy one command for Claude Code. Then they can search and read your Koi documents, recorded calls and dictations, write and edit pages, keep your calendar (Koi's own, with the Google and Apple calendars you connect), expenses and flashcards up to date, and draw diagrams on Koi's board. Nothing goes through our server.

Where apple-mcp did more, plainly: Koi doesn't touch Messages, Mail, Contacts or Maps, and its notes are Koi's documents, not Apple Notes. And apple-mcp is free. Koi is $20 a month or Lifetime, paid once, with dictation, call recording and an assistant in the same app.

2. Notion MCP

Best for: If your notes and calendar live in Notion

Notion's own MCP server has about 60 tools: search and fetch pages, create and update them, databases, comments and calendar events. Its docs name Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. It runs on Notion's servers and signs in with OAuth; some tools need Business with Notion AI.

3. Granola MCP

Best for: Meeting notes from Granola, read-only

Granola's hosted MCP lets Claude and others read your Granola meeting notes. Transcripts and folders need a paid plan; the free plan reaches the last 30 days. More in our Granola MCP alternatives.
